Whew!

Wonderful Louise!I’m just about caught up. Louise just carried a huge vat of mayonnaise through the lobby. She waved hello and I squinted after her, not sure if I was hallucinating.

I guess they need mayonnaise in the Brasserie!

This morning I woke up a little before nine to the ringing of my phone and my mother’s notification of breakfast. I went down to meet them, fuzzy-headed in my victory pajamas, and poured cereal into my bowl. Foooood.

We ate. Mom came down to the health club with me, and paid for my massage. And then, well, I went in and had the massage! It was delicious. Michelle is a cute younger girl, maybe even younger than me, but she definitely knows what she’s doing. Maybe I should find a place that does massages in Austin… I know there will be volunteers to join me! :P

I walked out of the health club feeling just plain fabulous… and all floppy, relaxed. I went upstairs and took a nap.

It’s so nice to be done singing, and I still wouldn’t have traded it for the world.

I read my book. I sent laundry with my mother to our cousins’, who so kindly offered to help us out. I slept more. I had a snack. I intarwubbed. I met Louise for a snack and a chat (which was so incredibly wonderful!). And then I napped some more, and read, and came back down here. My parents just returned. It’s been a wonderful day.

In a little bit I’ll go eat dinner, and dessert, and feel good. Life… life is good.

What’s going to happen next?

Thursday: Party!

August 11, 2006

Thursday night Dad and I putzed around on the internet in the lobby, having a grand time, and then came upstairs to their hotel room where we ordered copious amounts of room service. Mom put the Eisteddfod coverage on the telly and we sat and watched, and I did some writing. A half hour later, [...]

Thursday: Stage Competition (2)

August 11, 2006

I’m finding it very hard to believe that I’m barely through Thursday morning, and that first post is so long. After we three sang, the show went on – other competitions began, finished, began, finished. We were asked to stay close for the next few runs, because they were going to announce the mezzo soprano [...]

Thursday: Stage Competition (1)

August 11, 2006

Okay, here we go. Thursday morning. Eek eek. I was in the stage competition. They’d told me to leave the hotel by 9:30; I asked Mom to book me a cab for then. I woke up at 7, and went down to breakfast. I didn’t call Mom – I didn’t want to wake them up [...]

Wednesday: Preliminaries

August 10, 2006

Where on earth did I leave off? Wednesday I slowed my routine to a crawl. Olwen and I had planned to meet at 3:30 at Capel Seion Newydd to rehearse briefly; she had other competitors to meet as well. I went for my Indian head massage – incredibly interesting new experience! It was very nice, [...]
